Locking Castle Church is a united church of four Christian traditions in one congregation. From the earliest days of Locking Castle, four Christian traditions – Anglican, Methodist, United Reformed and Baptist - agreed that church provision on the estate should be ecumenical in all things. Ecumenical is a word derived from the Greek `oikoumene’, which means the inhabited earth, the world, or humankind. When used in the first century it referred to the Roman Empire. Today the word ecumenical has come to mean a church or group of churches formed from different Christian traditions. Locking Castle Church is part of Churches Together in Weston, and our sponsoring body is Somerset Churches Together.
